The kitchen and dining room

A big group holiday needs a big kitchen. Hunter's Moon has a large, open-plan, split-level kitchen with everything you need to cook for ten, a walk-in pantry with washer-dryer, and a dining table for the whole party set in a bay of carved oak windows looking out to the garden.

The kitchen

The kitchen is up a short flight of steps from the dining area, with hand-built cabinets in the organic style of the rest of the house, wooden worktops and a large window over the sink. It is fully equipped for serious cooking: an electric double oven, an induction hob with extractor, a microwave, a large American-style double fridge-freezer with ice and water, a dishwasher and a Nespresso coffee machine with a selection of teas.

There are plenty of pans, oven dishes, sharp knives, chopping boards, mixing bowls, a food processor, toaster, kettle and everything else you would expect in a well-run home. Crockery, glassware and cutlery are provided for more than ten, so nobody has to wash up between courses. A larder of essentials, oils, spices and condiments is kept stocked, and a walk-in pantry houses the washer-dryer, iron and ironing board.

You can reach the kitchen directly from the front door or from the boot-room entrance, which is handy for unloading the car.

The dining room

Down the steps, the dining area has a large round table seating up to ten beneath a wrought-iron chandelier, in a bay of tall carved oak windows that frame the garden like a painting. Patio doors lead straight out to the terrace and hot tub, so summer meals can drift outside.

Your welcome hamper of locally sourced produce, wine, cider and treats will be waiting on the table when you arrive. If you would rather not cook at all, we can arrange an in-house private chef, fine-dining deliveries or hampers; see celebrations and groups.

Stocking up

Morrisons, the Co-op and Tesco are in Glastonbury, five to six miles away, with Aldi and Sainsbury's in Street. Supermarket deliveries can be booked to the house. Glastonbury also has excellent independent food shops, a craft bakery and weekly markets; see our shopping and markets page. The Lion at Pennard, two miles away, does good pub food if the cook wants a night off.
