The hot tub and garden
Hunter's Moon stands in over an acre of its own private, terraced gardens, with woodland on three sides and a stream along the bottom. A large hot tub sits in a completely sheltered corner beside the pod, and paths wind down through lawns, borders and trees to decking above the water.
The hot tub
The hot tub is big enough for the whole party, and it is totally private: screened by the curve of the pod on one side and by planting and fencing on the others, with nothing overlooking it but the trees. It is kept hot and ready for your arrival, so you can be in it within minutes of dropping your bags. Doors from the cinema pod and the dining room open straight onto the terrace beside it.
Around the tub is a large furnished patio with garden table and chairs, sun loungers, a barbecue and a log-fired chiminea, so the terrace works as an outdoor living room from breakfast to the small hours. On a clear night, with the stars out and the steam rising, it is hard to beat.

An acre of gardens
The garden is a succession of terraces stepping down the hill. Nearest the house are lawns and a patio; below them, a sun-trap lawn with loungers, mature shrubs and a wisteria that smothers the front of the house in May. Winding paths lead through borders and trees to an ornamental carp pond with its own spirit house (children love feeding the fish), and on down to a secluded decking area with loungers looking over the stream known locally as Witches Dip.
Woodpeckers, nuthatches and owls are regulars, and after dark the midnight wildlife-watching zone, with its own spotlight, gives you a good chance of seeing the badgers that visit most nights. Bring binoculars and peanuts.
